Serbian Delegation Visits Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona

In the first week of November, a Serbian delegation successfully completed a four-day study visit to Barcelona, organized as part of participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress, one of the world’s leading events dedicated to smart cities and sustainable urban development.

The program provided valuable insights into European best practices in smart city development, digital infrastructure, and energy innovation, with a strong focus on the application of advanced technologies in urban environments.

During the visit, the delegation engaged with key innovation ecosystems, including Bayern International, Baden-Württemberg International (BW_i), and NRW.Global Business, where solutions related to energy management, sustainable mobility, digital infrastructure, and urban technologies were presented.

A highlight of the program was a visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, one of Europe’s leading research institutions, showcasing the role of high-performance computing in climate research, urban planning, and industrial innovation.

In addition to the official agenda, the delegation held productive discussions with experts and exhibitors, further strengthening cooperation between Serbian stakeholders and German partners in the smart city and energy sectors.

Special thanks were extended to all participating companies and institutions whose involvement underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering collaboration and inspiring new joint projects for sustainable urban development in Serbia.

At the fair, the delegation also met representatives of the German Chamber of Commerce in Spain (AHK Spanien), whose support, together with their team, significantly contributed to the organization and overall success of the project.
